Tik Tok 3D Print

Tik Tok 3D Printing

So I got the Tik Tok model already. It’s time to make the Tik Tok actual figurine in 3D. For this, I had to figure out what the best way to approach this. After few tries, I managed to get some good pieces printed. In animation, you don’t have to model the thickness. But with 3D printing, it’s good to have solid models and it should be closed too. So for most of the parts, I had to re-topologies to make it work for printing. Here are some pieces

Here’s a sneak peek of printing Tik Tok

Tik Tok Project

Tik Tok Project

Tik Tok is a character I built as an example project for students to explore different areas such as animation and visual effects. Another purpose of this character is to experiment with substance painter workflow and motion capture animation. This is the final concept design of Tik Tok done by Thaw Naing.

Here’s Tik Tok rigged, animated and rendered with Arnold. I also used Tik Tok to test some Motion capture animation. I used Maya HIK motion capture targeting to transfer the motion capture data to the character. Check out Tik Tok’s dance moves. 🙂

Render

VRay vs Arnold

This is one of the early renders of Kitchen that I did use Maya and VRay. Pretty happy how it turned out. My favourites are the brush metal oven shader and the glass shader.

With Maya 2017, I got to play around with their new renderer Arnold. It’s a very powerful renderer and I’m loving it. However, there’s still so much more to learn.  The image below is a style frame I did for a short. Rendered in Maya, Arnold. Grass – Maya XGEN.

Below image is playing around with Maya’s lighting techniques with Arnold. Image-based lighting and volumetric lighting.
